Most of us did not grow up with shofars in our hands. We did not grow up watching for Biblical feast days. We know Christmas and Easter. We know revival weeks and Homecomings in our churches. We do not automatically know what to do with a feast God Himself placed on Israel’s calendar and called them to observe “a memorial of blasting”—a day of rest, assembly, and a sound that was meant to stop people in their tracks. On the biblical calendar, that day arrives. Later tradition named it Rosh Hashanah, “head of the year.”

Why a blast? It gathered the camp. It announced a king. It warned of war. It called a sleeping nation to wake up before the Day of Atonement ten days later. The sound said: Remember. Return. The Lord is near.

Today, Travis will remind us that this days calls each of us to become ready. The same Jesus who fulfilled the spring feasts will finish what the fall feasts promise. The trumpet will not stay on a page in Leviticus. One day it will sound from heaven.
